Can you be charged for destroying property you own?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Lawrence Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
If you are still paying for the vehicle, you do not own it. I suspect there are some other issues going on in your life, because no judge is going to put you on a an ankle monitor for breaking an antenna. I can read between the lines. You are stalking her, and broke the antenna to terrorize her. She was awarded the vehicle, and you decided to show her. She is done with you. The vehicle is either not fully paid for (not owned), or was awarded to her in the separation. IF you want real answers give attorneys real details.

I filed a police report against my ex for stealing some items from me and since I found some of the items, can I drop charges?

Answered by attorney Nathaniel D Shafer
Criminal Law lawyer at Natty Shafer Law
You should probably inform the police and the police and the prosecutor will have the decision to drop the charges. The likelihood of them dropping charges is pretty good, especially if there is no chance that your ex simply returned the items to you, and you were mistaken about them ever being stolen.

You can. You will be arrested on the bench warrant, and when you are released you can try and get your license reinstated.
